In the role of Mechanical Construction Inspector
, we'll count on you to:
- Demonstrate familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes for buildings and facilities
- Conduct inspection of mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems at various transportation-related facilities such as airports, tunnels, bridges, terminals, transit systems, and ports
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
- Oversee testing, commissioning and turnover of MEP systems
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5 years of experience in construction inspection of mechanical/HVAC work on major transportation/infrastructure projects for public agencies such as PANYNJ, MTA, NJTA, NJDOT, and NJ Transit
- NFPA Fire Protection System Certification and ICC M2 Mechanical Inspector Certification
- Excellent organizational and communication skills required
- PE license in New York or New Jersey
- OSHA 30‑hour training
- Experience with vertical transportation systems
- Preference given to local candidates
- High school diploma or equivalent (or 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute for a high school diploma)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture
- Compliance with HDR’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including potential pre‑employment and periodic drug screening as required by client and legal standards
