In the role of Mechanical Construction Inspector
, we'll count on you to:

• Demonstrate familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes for buildings and facilities
• Conduct inspection of mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems at various transportation-related facilities such as airports, tunnels, bridges, terminals, transit systems, and ports
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
• Oversee testing, commissioning and turnover of MEP systems
• Perform other duties as needed

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 5 years of experience in construction inspection of mechanical/HVAC work on major transportation/infrastructure projects for public agencies such as PANYNJ, MTA, NJTA, NJDOT, and NJ Transit
• NFPA Fire Protection System Certification and ICC M2 Mechanical Inspector Certification
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required
• PE license in New York or New Jersey
• OSHA 30‑hour training
• Experience with vertical transportation systems
• Preference given to local candidates

• High school diploma or equivalent (or 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute for a high school diploma)
• A minimum of 5 years of experience
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture
• Compliance with HDR’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including potential pre‑employment and periodic drug screening as required by client and legal standards
• Visa sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
