The Entertainment team at the New York Post delivers readers their daily fix of celebrity news and pop culture with wit, authority, and an unfiltered edge. From the latest in TV, movies, and music to Broadway buzz and viral celebrity moments, the team covers it all with a sharp eye for what's trending and what's worth talking about. Whether it's exclusive interviews, red carpet roundups, or deep dives into Hollywood happenings, the Entertainment desk keeps readers in the know-and always entertained.

We are seeking an experienced Entertainment Reporter (Mon-Fri, 2pm-10pm) to join our entertainment digital team. We are looking for someone who loves all things entertainment and can think strategically, collaborate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced breaking news environment.

Note:

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 2pm-10pm.

Responsibilities:

* Generate and craft 7-8 SEO-optimized news stories related to entertainment daily, leveraging expertise in TV, film, music, and celebrity content to produce high-quality, engaging pieces with clean and compelling copy while meeting stringent deadlines

* Strategically analyze the daily entertainment news cycle and trending topics to identify relevant and engaging story angles

* Collaborate seamlessly with various departments, including social media, video, and photo, to enhance daily news coverage and present stories effectively across different platforms

* Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry contacts, leveraging extensive network connections to secure exclusive interviews, access breaking news, and enhance the depth and breadth of entertainment coverage

* Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation by making informed decisions and working independently in a fast-paced news environment

* Remain adaptable and ready to assist with editing tasks as necessary, contributing to the overall quality and success of the content produced

* Conduct on-camera interviews, and present engaging video segments for online platforms and social media channels, as needed

Qualifications:

* At least 5 years of experience in entertainment and breaking news, with a strong portfolio of published articles covering TV, film, music and celebrity content

* Extensive knowledge pulling and reading through court documents for accurate reporting, comfortable cold calling to enhance story details, and the ideal candidate will have a substantial network of industry contacts

* Crucial that the candidate can balance writing quick turnaround news stories and also pivot to breaking exclusive reporting and digging. Capable of writing both 400-word news items and also longer feature reads is a must

* A deep understanding of and passion for all things celebrity and entertainment

* Capability to craft concise, attention-grabbing headlines and produce polished, publication-ready content

* Existing relationships with industry representatives and sources.

* Demonstrated exceptional news judgment, as well as outstanding writing and reporting abilities

* Proficiency in time management and multitasking, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines effectively

* Deep understanding of SEO principles and the ability to optimize content accordingly

* Knowledge of traffic analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parse.ly, and an understanding of how to utilize them effectively

* Strong knowledge of the entertainment industry, including current trends and key players

* Experience with content management systems, particularly Word Press, as well as proficiency in photo editing software

* Expected to deliver exclusive content and must have a proven track record of doing so

* Excellent on-camera presence and comfortability in front of the camera

* Flexibility in covering live pop culture events (i.e. Oscars, Golden Globes, etc.) and working outside traditional business hours when needed

Note:

This role follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of being on-site in the New York metro area four days per week (subject to change). For candidates based in Los Angeles, the position is currently remote (also subject to change).
