Reporting to the Managing Director, U.S. Region, this individual is a key asset who oversees the day-to-day operations of the U.S. Tax function. They are responsible for all aspects of US federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, strategy, and reporting.. Through their tax expertise, they serve as an internal consultant to the business partners within the organization.
Department Overview:
The Finance and Administration team provides corporate center of excellence services in the disciplines around accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax and treasury, transaction services, corporate development, investor relations and enterprise sustainability, and administration services for the organization. The Tax team is responsible for all of TMX’s tax compliance, provisions, as well as planning and reporting for TMX and its subsidiaries.
The team also contributes to efficiently managing the cash related activities behind the scenes to enable day-to-day operations of our business. Through functional tax management, the team allows for informed business decision making and strategic planning all the while ensuring quality governance, risk management, and transparency to stakeholders.

They are responsible for all aspects of US federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, strategy, and reporting.. * Key Responsibilities:
*** Key tax point of contact for all U.S. operations, partnering with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure informed business decisions
* Responsible for the tax reporting and tax compliance function for all U.S. entities, including corporate income tax, sales & use state and local tax filings, estimated tax payments, and extensions.
* Assist with foreign affiliate reporting and related tax computations (e.g. E&P calculations)
* Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process for all U.S. entities in accordance with ASC 740 (accounting for Income taxes), including the calculation of current and deferred taxes effective tax rate, and FIN 48 (uncertain tax provisions) analysis.
* Regularly maintain the state and local income tax and sales & use tax nexus and taxability studies for the group
* Develop, evaluate, and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position and minimize tax liabilities within legal and regulatory framework
* Actively research and monitor federal, state, and local tax developments in the U.S.
* Ensure that all U.S. entities are in compliance with transfer pricing requirements, including review of reports, preparation of information, liaising both internally and with external consultants where engaged and/or necessary
* Advise on tax planning on any new U.S. business ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and restructuring initiatives
* Prepare U.S. W8/W9 forms as required and liaise with external advisors to determine FATCA status where necessary
* Prepare cash tax forecasting schedules for U.S. entities, including the preparation of U.S. federal and state / local tax estimates for quarterly installments and final payments
