The opportunity is for a Tax Services Manager - FSO - State & Local Tax, EDGE, located in New York or anywhere in the country.

EY’s FSO EDGE State and Local Tax practice delivers comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the needs of our clients. You will work alongside practice office professionals knowledgeable in a wide range of tax areas, processes, and compliance.

Your Responsibilities

A Services Manager in FSO EDGE State & Local Tax will be responsible for delivering and managing tax compliance and consulting work for clients. The objective is to recognize and identify problem areas and items that need to be addressed or escalated to ensure client needs are timely and accurately completed. You will also be working in a highly collaborative culture, alongside colleagues from different practices, while listing and sharing information.

  • Managing and delivering tax compliance and consulting work for clients in the FSO EDGE State & Local Tax practice.
  • Identify problems, escalate issues as needed, and ensure timely, accurate client service.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different practices to share information and insights.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights
  • Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clients
  • Learning and researching current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
  • Developing clear, intelligent plans to improve clients’ tax activities
  • Researching clients’ business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor advice to their needs
  • Working with a motivated team of professionals
  • Building effective long-term relationships with clients
  • Maintaining your reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge
  • Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and ensuring colleagues have the tools and opportunities to excel
Qualifications

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline or a graduate degree in Tax or Law
  • CPA or licensed Attorney
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
  • A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A commitment to continuing your learning

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A thorough understanding of state and local partnership tax
  • Proficiency in Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Return Preparation Software
  • Experience in working in a variety of teams
  • Ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members
