Schedule: Full Time – Mon – Fri, 9 AM – 5 PM

Salary: $82,000 – $85,000 per year (35 hrs/week)

Hiring Bonus: $1,000 after 500 worked hours

Mercy First is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community‑based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short‑term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children.

Each year, Mercy First serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcoming enormous obstacles, re‑imagining their futures and developing their full potential.

Mercy First partnered with ACS to establish a new Clinical Support Program to serve families experiencing challenges with unmet clinical needs in the borough of Queens. The Clinical Support program is an interdisciplinary team of licensed clinicians and support staff, all of whom support families navigating challenges in the areas of mental health, addiction, and IPV. The Clinical Support team works with CPS Teams and/or directly with impacted families to ensure optimal service delivery.

The team assists with family engagement approaches, with assessing/screening for the most pressing needs, and with identifying and facilitating connections to relevant resources.

The Clinical Support Clinician is responsible for the delivery of clinical guidance, including securing potential resources. The Clinical Support Clinician will support, recommend, and monitor that the approach to treatment used is trauma‑informed, strength‑based, and emphasizes both short‑term and long‑term goals to restore and maintain safety for family members. The Clinical Support Clinician will research and refer to community resources, when appropriate.

• The Clinical Support Clinician holds a minimum of an LMSW with 5 years of related experience and will report to the Site Supervisor.
• Has a deep understanding of and working knowledge of assessing various mental health conditions and additional factors that impact mental health, such as substance use, trauma and environmental factors; the capacity to make informed recommendations based on assessments and the available treatment modalities; and a strong working knowledge of mental health, substance use and IPV, in a culturally informed approach with families from diverse backgrounds.
• Familiarity with navigating electronic platforms such as Connections for documentation reviews.
• The ability to process and document high volumes of assessment, evaluations and collaborate throughout the interdisciplinary team, as well as with ACS staff and families.
• As with all Child Welfare related positions, this role will require a robust background check, and a clean driving record is encouraged.

• Assess and recommend treatment modalities for families that work with ACS staff.
• Document efforts on electronic platforms such as Connections and ensure follow‑up on community referrals.
• Work with the interdisciplinary team and ACS staff to ensure efficient workflows that support families in a comprehensive, client‑centered and trauma‑informed fashion. This might include meeting families in the community if needed and attending all meetings (in‑person and virtual) that facilitate positive outcomes.
• Report to one of the ACS field offices and be under the directive and supervision of the Site Supervisor.
