- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Provide speech and language services as ordered by physician or authorized at IFSP (EI only).
- Evaluate speech, language disorders and/or swallowing, provide differential diagnosis using formal and informal assessments.
- Utilize therapeutic devices to maintain or restore maximum speech and language capabilities.
- Plan, instruct and supervise patient, family and other health care providers in specific verbal/physical exercises and equipment to facilitate speech and language skills.
- Assist with referral of patients to related services such as speech‑audio logical clinics, dentists, etc.
- Provide counseling and guidance to speech/language and hearing impaired individuals and their families.
- Submit initial assessment indicating level of patient functioning and short‑term and long‑term goals.
- Submit progress notes after each visit detailing treatment, modalities, progress and patient response.
- Submit a summary of progress toward goals of therapy (monthly notes for EI only).
- Submit a discharge summary at time of discharge.
- Maintain communication with physicians and other involved in patient’s care via written reports, meetings and documented phone calls.
- Coordinate care through the nurse.
- Refer to speech therapy policies for required communication and documentation schedule.
- Participate in interdisciplinary staff case management conference and in‑service program as required.
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by ASHA or in pursuit of ASHA CCC.
- State license in Speech‑Language Pathology (if required by location).
- Proficiency in the field of autism/developmental disabilities.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Windows, Central Reach and other software.
- Familiarity with AAC preferred.
