Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist – Part Time. In this role, the successful candidate performs pulmonary function testing which includes lung volumes, spirometry and diffusion capacity. The candidate performs methacholine challenges as required and is responsible for performing daily quality assurance on the equipment to insure the quality and validity of the tests performed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform pulmonary function testing including FVL, FVC, lung volumes, DLCO and MVV as required. Verify physician order for testing procedure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain testing equipment and generate appropriate paperwork to permit the interpretation of pulmonary function tests.
  • Perform methacholine challenges, efficiently schedule patients, review schedule with pharmacy to insure optimal utilization of provocoline.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy;
New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Respiratory Therapist Technician license; certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT) with CPFT specialty credential within a year of hire; computer competency including basic understanding of Microsoft Windows based pulmonary function software programs; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Licenses

Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), Respiratory Therapy Technician – NYS, Respiratory Therapist License – NYS, National Respiratory Therapy Regulation.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years pulmonary function testing experience.
