Job Summary:

The School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (12MO), Health Policy & Management (Tenure Track). The successful candidate will:
  • Possess specialization in healthcare administration, management, information technology, quality improvement, and/or financing.
  • Bring a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, including an interest in non-traditional teaching such as online, certificate, or executive training.
  • Demonstrate a trajectory towards securing extramural funding to support pedagogical innovation and/or research and provide evidence of a commitment to diversity in their scholarship and teaching.
  • Demonstrate the ability to further the mission of the School of Public Health:
    • To advance public health knowledge.
    • To promote health and well-being.
    • To prevent disease and disability within communities underserved by our healthcare systems, particularly urban and immigrant communities.
  • Additionally, the candidate is expected to:
    • Create and teach graduate courses in healthcare administration both in-person and online.
    • Provide leadership in development and implementation of future programs, including an Executive MHA Program.
    • Build and sustain extramural funding to support pedagogical innovation and/or research.
    • Mentor students to become healthcare leaders, scholars, and practitioners.
    • Engage activity with the communities we serve.
Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, MD, JD, etc.).
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in leadership, scholarship, teaching, and evidence of a commitment to diversity.
  • Familiarity with the CAHME and accreditation process.
