The Douglaston Club is a private member-owned Club founded in 1918 and situated in historic Douglaston Manor overlooking Little Neck Bay. The Club is on the North Shore of Long Island, near the Queens/Nassau border, and is approximately ½ hour from Manhattan by train. Members enjoy a resort-style atmosphere featuring a large, English Manor Style Clubhouse, with two distinct dining rooms, a less-formal grill room, private banquet facilities, an outdoor patio overlooking the pool and several tennis courts, and a front porch overlooking the Club lawn and Little Neck Bay.

The Douglaston Club is a family-oriented club, offering members and their families a variety of social activities throughout the year. From casual cookouts, “kids’ days,” and community events, to themed cocktail parties, and holiday events for adults, the Douglaston Club offers something for everyone. A prospective manager should expect to be fully familiar with the membership and be on-site during all Club events.

While the Douglaston Club is rich in traditions and has a membership that goes back decades, the General Manager must stay attuned to industry trends, and be willing to suggest changes as the economic and demographic environment dictates. An active Board of Directors and Club Committees strategically plan for the future, while retaining much of the successful past.

One of the hard courts presently utilized for pickleball. The Douglaston Club offers members access to tennis approximately 6 months per year, from mid-April through mid-October. The Club offers a competitive environment for all skill levels. Our seasonal Tennis Pro offers individual and group lessons, scheduled clinics are run throughout the summer, and there is a growing active junior tennis program.

The Douglaston Club maintains a 25‑yard, 5‑lane pool with a separate kiddie pool. Swim season runs from approximately Memorial Day until the weekend after Labor Day, with full‑time hours beginning in mid‑June. The Douglaston Club sponsors a seasonal, competitive swim team that practices Monday through Friday beginning at the end of June through the first weekend in August. The Club provides restrooms, showers, a lounge with video games, a bowling alley, a snack bar, and a spacious patio/deck area.

Beverage service is offered poolside during scheduled hours.

The Douglaston Club is home to the Douglaston Yacht Squadron (DYS) and Douglaston Junior Yacht Squadron (DJYS). The Club provides launch service from May to October and runs a Jr. sailing program from June to mid‑August. The Douglaston Club maintains a mooring field in collaboration with the Douglas Manor Association which operates the dock facility. Responsibilities of the General Manager include the hiring of sailing instructors & launch drivers, ensuring staff maintains the 3 launches and 4 chase boats, and that certifications for both launch drivers and instructors remain current.

The Club is expected to organize and run seasonal sailing regattas as well.

The success of the Douglaston Club revolves around the exceptional execution by the Chef, Event Staff, and supporting staff. All dining areas offer both casual and fine dining with professional service expected. All menus change seasonally, keeping a fresh look and ever-changing variety in food selections.
