About Us
Market Axess is on a journey to digitally transform one of the world’s largest financial markets, enabling the shift from analog, phone-based trading to a fully electronic marketplace. Why does this matter? Because our platform makes trading fixed‑income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one’s ever done this before.

But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead. We know where we’re going. How we get there is up to us. Join us and help Take Us There.

Role
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our X‑Pro team and help build and operate a next‑generation trading platform. This is a hands‑on technical role focused on reliability, scalability, and automation. You’ll work closely with other engineers to design, implement, and optimize systems that power our modernization journey to cloud‑native architectures. As an SRE, you’ll contribute to building robust infrastructure, improving observability, and driving operational excellence.

You’ll collaborate across teams, solve complex technical challenges, and set high standards for engineering quality—without formal people‑management responsibilities.

How You’ll Help Take Us There
  • Implement and refine SRE best practices to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Automate workflows and infrastructure to reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless, secure deployments.
  • Develop and enhance observability solutions—metrics, logging, and tracing—to ensure system health and compliance.
  • Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs, using data‑driven insights to improve service performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues and drive root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Participate in incident response and post‑mortems, ensuring lessons learned translate into actionable improvements.
  • Collaborate with developers on containerization and cloud‑native deployments, optimizing for resilience and scalability.
  • Contribute to infrastructure‑as‑code initiatives using tools like Terraform to standardize and automate environments.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, experiment with new tools, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Advocate for reliability and operational excellence across engineering teams through technical influence and collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in SRE, Dev Ops, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java or Python) and scripting (e.g., Bash).
  • Hands‑on experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or Git Hub Actions.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
  • Experience defining and monitoring SLIs/SLOs.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in complex distributed environments.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to collaborate effectively and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
What You Can Expect From Us
  • Hybrid environment: a mix of working in the office and from home.
  • Free food: lunch and snacks available on site when working in the office.
  • Paid time off: competitive PTO package including vacation, personal days, sick leave, and charity days.
  • Generous parental leave: up to 20 weeks fully paid.
  • 401(k): dollar‑for‑dollar employer match up to $17,500.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan: discounted stock purchases.
  • Wellness stipend: up to $1,000 annually for gym memberships, home‑office equipment, and more.
  • On‑site healthcare: access to world‑class care through Mount Sinai at our Hudson Yards location.
  • Tuition assistance and professional development: live and on‑demand learning, role‑specific training, employee‑led Lunch & Learns, and guest speakers.
  • Core benefits:…
