Vice President, Accessibility Team Lead – BNY

At BNY, our culture allows us to run our company better and enables employees’ growth and success. As a leading global financial services company at the heart of the global financial system, we influence nearly 20% of the world’s investible assets. Every day, our teams harness cutting-edge AI and breakthrough technologies to collaborate with clients, driving transformative solutions that redefine industries and uplift communities worldwide.

We are seeking a Vice President, Accessibility Team Lead to advance digital accessibility across BNY. This role sits within our Design Hub and will lead a cross-functional accessibility team. The Team Lead will be accountable for maturing accessibility practices, embedding standards into delivery processes, and ensuring compliance with global regulations (e.g., WCAG 2.2, ADA, and EU Accessibility Act).

This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on program delivery: building frameworks, coaching team members, and partnering across design, engineering, product, legal, and compliance. This role is located in New York, NY.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Development:
Manage, coach, and develop the accessibility team, ensuring role clarity, inclusive communication, and supportive work routines.
  • Foster a culture of psychological safety, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Accessibility Program Delivery:
Lead accessibility reviews, audits, and testing across digital products and services.
  • Integrate accessibility into the design and engineering lifecycle (e.g., design system standards, QA processes).
  • Drive adoption of self-service accessibility tools and training for product teams.
  • Standards & Compliance:
Ensure BNY digital products achieve WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
  • Align programs with U.S. (ADA, Section 508) and global (EU Accessibility Act) accessibility requirements.
  • Oversee development of Accessibility Conformance Reports (VPATs/ACRs).
  • Partnership & Advocacy:
Partner with UX Research and Voice of the Client teams to ensure inclusive research practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to product leaders on accessibility risks, opportunities, and client impact.
  • Champion accessibility awareness across the bank through training, workshops, and the Digital Accessibility Champions program.
What We Offer
  • Opportunity to shape the accessibility vision at a global financial institution.
  • A highly collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
  • Professional development support, including accessibility training and certification sponsorship.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s a plus).
  • 8–10 years of experience in accessibility, UX, or related domains, with at least 3 years leading teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.2, ARIA, ADA, Section 508, and global accessibility regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, Voice Over, Talk Back).
  • Experience integrating accessibility into enterprise design systems and agile delivery workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • IAAP CPACC or WAS certification strongly preferred; willingness to pursue if not already held.
  • Experience in financial services a plus, but not required.
