Overview
We are seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) – IT Technical Lead to support the strategic leadership of the IT function at client.
In this role, you will oversee critical technology initiatives, ensure operational excellence, and manage a team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions that align with company goals.
This position sits within the IT Actuarial Product team, working closely with the pricing and reserving actuarial team.
- Assist senior IT leadership in developing and executing IT strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Manage IT projects including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and implementation.
- Oversee the performance and development of IT teams to ensure high productivity and engagement.
- Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications.
- Ensure IT operations meet standards of security, scalability, and compliance.
- Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to address technology needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption to improve business processes and services.
- Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for software, hardware, and services.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 9+ years of experience in IT roles, including 4+ years in a leadership position.
- Proven ability to manage complex IT projects and cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of modern development principles and best practices.
- Expertise in cybersecurity, compliance, and IT governance.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and enterprise systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management for software delivery teams.
- Prior experience in the insurance industry is highly desirable, particularly working with pricing and/or reserving actuaries.
