JOB TITLE: Maintenance/Manufacturing Planner
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Maintenance Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance/Manufacturing Planner will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency. This role will work closely with the maintenance, production, and planning teams to ensure preventive maintenance programs are effective, unplanned downtime minimized, and spare parts managed efficiently. The ability to manage a fast‑paced environment where quality, safety and productivity are key competencies is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Some nights and weekends required based on needs of business.
- Travel for production needs in South Carolina every 4‑6 weeks or as needed based on projects.
- Travel to manufacturers to assess new equipment.
- Develop, implement, and manage detailed preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring all equipment and machinery receive timely servicing to maximize uptime and reliability.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate execution of maintenance work orders, aligning with production demands to minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.
- Maintain a real‑time, organized system for tracking work orders, planned maintenance, completed repairs, and backlog tasks using CMMS or equivalent software.
- Work closely with maintenance technicians, supervisors, and production teams, and production planning to prioritize maintenance activities, ensuring timely resource allocation and adherence to scheduled plans.
- Develop detailed job plans including labor requirements, estimated time‑frames, required parts, tools, and safety procedures, ensuring maintenance tasks are executed efficiently and safely.
- Maintain comprehensive records of equipment history, failures, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and long‑term reliability data to drive continuous improvement.
- Work with contractors regarding buildings and grounds; snow removal, property maintenance, and parking lot.
- Identify and implement process improvements in maintenance planning, work execution, and resource utilization to reduce costs, extend asset life, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain safety/OSHA records.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and company policies, conducting periodic audits and providing corrective recommendations as needed.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting maintenance costs, including labor, materials, contracted services, and capital expenditures, to support effective financial planning.
- Support emergency or unplanned maintenance needs by rapidly assessing and adjusting schedules, allocating resources, and ensuring prompt response to minimize production impact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning or a related role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in paper converting or similar industries.
- Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, preventive maintenance, and reliability principles.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems commonly used in paper converting operations is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate between departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
- Certifications in maintenance planning, reliability, or CMMS software.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
