Reporting to the Director of Major and Planned Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts in support of general operations and restricted program areas. With support for public media at unprecedented levels, the Major Gifts Officer will have a tremendous opportunity to engage with a robust prospect pool to help WNET further its mission and advance its strategic path.
Responsibilities- Work collaboratively across the department and organization to develop a deep understanding of WNET’s mission and goals.
- Manage a personal portfolio of 100–150 donors and prospects capable of making gifts of $25,000+, developing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Actively engage in qualification efforts for prospects, working with the major and planned gifts, prospect development, and mid-level giving teams.
- Schedule, manage, and attend regular donor meetings, visits and calls.
- Prepare meaningful and effective proposals, reports, acknowledgements and other collateral, stewarding donors through an impactful communications journey.
- Collaborate with program staff and other internal stakeholders to effectively connect donors to WNET’s work.
- Assist in the planning and execution of a potential capital campaign.
- Track all moves management and contact activity in Salesforce CRM.
- Represent the WNET Development department at events, as needed.
- Perform additional duties and special projects, as required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with donors and raising patron/major gifts with a successful track record of development experience with increasing responsibility, including staff, volunteer, and committee management.
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques and ethics; experience in devising strategies for cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM technology (i.e. Salesforce).

Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $95,000.00 - $. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
