Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) is seeking a compassionate & skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care in our Acute Care Unit at our hospital in Cortland, NY. The position is full-time on Night Shift, working three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with an every-other-weekend rotation.
Department description: 2 Central GCMC - a 28-bed acute care unit caring for patients with respiratory illnesses, diabetes, wounds, and other acute conditions, including end-of-life care. It also serves as a post-operative unit for ortho, abdominal, and urology patients.
Our department is known for a caring and comforting environment with a strong team spirit. It is fast-paced but emphasizes teaching and learning. RNs work on a Care Team with an LPN and a PCP sharing patient responsibilities.

Job Summary: Responsible for delivering patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Guides patient teaching and ancillary activities, adhering to professional and compliance standards, and staying updated on relevant regulations.
Experience:
- Entry level or graduate per Education requirements
- At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing preferred for specialty units (ICU, Maternity, Psych)
Skills: Refer to core competencies and unit-specific skills.
Licensure/Certificates:
- Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS-CPR certification (or within first 30 days)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification within 6 months for Maternity
- ACLS within 6 months for ICU
Essential Job Functions: Includes assessment, patient monitoring, medication administration, education, discharge planning, assisting providers, equipment use, clinical skills, emergency preparedness, documentation, and participation in professional activities. Employees may perform duties outside listed functions.
The hourly pay range is $37.50 - $53.06.
