Farm and Garden Manager

Stonegate is an 1850s Carpenter Gothic estate farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, one hour North of New York City. We grow and create beauty and wellness products from our flowers, herbs and fruit, as well as open the farm up to community each season for wellness events, suppers, and workshops. Originally part of a large estate, the National Historic Register farm outbuildings and Italianate Villa have each been meticulously restored, while the surrounding land is in cultivation as a local, organic farm, herbal and wellness center, and teaching venue.

The farm is small, sustainable, bio-intensive and integrated into a non-farm district; a model of local, small-scale community farming that is central to the owner’s philosophy. The farm serves a diverse local community, as well as a national audience through its profiles in articles, books and magazines as a model of small-scale, sustainable organic agriculture integrated into community. The farm is in production from April through October each season.

STONEGATE FARM in New York's Hudson Valley is offering paid positions for MASTER GARDENERS and FLOWER FARMERS to help manage the growing and cultivating of organic medicinal herbs and floral botanicals for our farm-grown beauty and wellness line, CULTIVATE APOTHECARY, as well as growing seasonal vegetables and fruit for our summer supper program, DIRT KITCHEN.

We are looking for applicants with strong plant knowledge and experience, a steady work ethic, and reliability. This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground opportunity to work on a small scale flower, vegetable, and fruit farm, and develop skills in cultivating and formulating herbal beauty and wellness products.

Work includes seed starting, soil cultivation, planting out, orchard management, vegetable and flower growing & harvesting, weeding, watering, cultivating, herbal & botanical processing and formulation.
