Postdoctoral Research Associate / Program on Science and Global Security
DescriptionPrinceton University's Program on Science and Global Security (SGS), based in the School of Public and International Affairs, is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to advance our work on nuclear arms control, disarmament, nonproliferation, verification, and the global security challenges associated with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and space‑based systems, including large satellite constellations. A recent PhD in physics, engineering, computer science, or other relevant fields and a strong interest in technical and policy research to advance national and international policies for a safer and more peaceful world are required.
Responsibilities- Be an active participant in one or more of SGS’s collaborative projects.
- Work with and help mentor graduate students in the Program.
- Participate in the regular SGS seminar series and other Program activities.
- Assist with relevant undergraduate or graduate courses.
- Contribute to the development of a 1–2 page research proposal and a relevant writing sample submitted with the application.
- PhD in physics, engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong interest and background in technical and policy research related to national and international security.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Salary range: $65,000 – $72,000, determined based on experience and accomplishments.
- Benefit‑eligible postdoctoral appointment for a twelve‑month term, starting around September 2025 (or an agreed date later in 2025 or early 2026) with potential renewal for another 12 months contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.
