Security Officer at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA PS1) – New York, NY

MoMA PS1, part of The Museum of Modern Art, is a leading contemporary art institution in Long Island City, New York. The Security Officer will safeguard the museum's collections, staff, and visitors while providing welcoming directions and information.

• Communicate museum policies and ensure staff and visitors adhere to safety protocols for the collection.
• Conduct opening and closing procedures, inspect galleries and areas for safety issues before opening.
• Perform patrols of assigned areas, report issues and safety concerns to supervisors.
• Complete daily logs and security reports; respond to emergency incidents such as medical emergencies or natural disasters.
• Perform additional duties related to the role, including exterior facility patrols, escorting contractors/vendors, etc.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• New York State Guard License required; CPR/AED/FSD and/or Fire Guard certification preferred but training will be provided.
• Minimum one-year security or customer service experience.
• Prior museum/art experience a plus.
• Fluency in additional languages preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and planning skills.
• Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor in a dynamic environment.
• Detail oriented, capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods, climb stairs, stoop/kneel, and work weekends (five days).

Salary: $18.00–$20.00 hourly. Benefits include 20 days paid vacation, 10 days paid sick leave, 11 paid holidays, 3 paid personal days, 401(k) savings plans, life insurance, medical/health, vision/dental, transit, health and dependent care FSAs, and a pension plan.
