Overview
The New York Foundling is a New York-based nonprofit that supports children and families through foster care, conflict and poverty, developmental disabilities, health and mental health services, and a whole-person, whole-family approach to wellbeing.
The natural supports of family and community are central to our approach, helping people build trust, a sense of self, culture and heritage, and the skills to practice self-regulation for productive adulthood. The DD Division provides assistance to help individuals with developmental disabilities reach their maximum potential.
Responsibilities- As a member of the leadership team, supervise the daily functioning of the Agency Operated Boarding Home (AOBH) for young prenatal, parenting and postpartum youth.
- Guide Lead Youth and Child Care Specialists to promote professional growth and ensure policy alignment with Youth and Child Care staff.
- Ensure staff promote independent living skills and follow program processes and regulations.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with program staff, youth, stakeholders and other entities.
- Oversee all aspects of operations for the AOBH residence, including bed capacity management, community relationships, policy implementation, permanency, well-being and safety of clients.
- Schedule and supervise recreational activities, shopping, meals and weekly menus.
- Provide weekly one-on-one supervision and complete probation and annual evaluations for Lead YCCS.
- Ensure staff receive training (CPR, TCI, First Aid, Abuse Prevention, Infection Control, etc.).
- Escort clients to medical appointments, ER visits and school as needed.
- Participate in intake, weekly check-ins, ITM and treatment planning meetings; co-lead monthly house meetings and coordinate monthly staff meetings.
- Ensure clients attend structured programs (tutoring, IL sessions, Health Group Parenting classes, Human Sexuality Sessions, etc.).
- Track reimbursable meals and coordinate with the Nutritionist on menus and wellness workshops.
- Plan cooking workshops to promote healthy eating and nutrition education; ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations for food service operations.
- Collaborate with Nutritionist to complete Food Protection Certification and train staff in Food Protection.
- Collect resident feedback on food menu items and maintain Local School Wellness Policy and Food Safety Plan.
- Complete other job-related tasks as required.
- Obtain Certificate of Fitness for Fire and Non-Fire Emergency Drill Conductor (F-07) and for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems (S-95) within the first 90 days of employment.
Other Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in Child Welfare.
- At least 2 years of Supervisory experience.
- Ability to engage adolescents who have experienced trauma.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist in the evaluation of staff and assist with staffing decisions.
- Driver’s License highly preferred.
- Certificate of Fitness for Fire and Non-Fire Emergency Drill Conductor (F-07) and for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems (S-95) must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
