Software Developer, Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer

We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team at Corning, contributing to scientific and modeling applications. In this role, you will participate in individual and team projects to enhance research capabilities, define project specifications, and explore new technologies in a collaborative, innovative environment.

• Participate in project planning, development, and deployment for scientific and modeling applications.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define project specifications and requirements.
• Explore new technologies and implement innovative solutions for research projects.
• Collaborate with UI/UX and QA teams to deliver high‑quality, user‑friendly software.
• Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on best practices and coding standards.
• Develop, test, and maintain frontend and backend components of applications.

Frontend Development:

Experience translating UI/UX designs (e.g., Figma) into working interfaces.

Python‑based web frameworks, such as Django or Flask.

API development and integration.

Database design and management, including SQL querying.

Experience with Postgre

SQL preferred;
Oracle experience is a plus.

Knowledge of choosing appropriate database technologies (relational vs non‑relational).

Additional Desired

Skills:

Python data visualization tools (D3.js, Bokeh, matplotlib).

Strong math and science proficiency.

Strong collaboration with UI/UX, QA, and other technical teams.

Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
