The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for Ampersand data analytics and data pipeline applications using Spark, Athena, EKS, Click House, Scala and Python. The Senior Data Engineer with Ampersand will be responsible for building the company’s big data pipeline, data reporting, and wrangling data to optimize data systems.

• Design and build our data pipeline using Amazon Web Services technologies (AWS EMR, EKS, Data Pipeline, Athena, Click House, Spark, Scala, and Python)
• Assemble, combine and transform large multiple complex data sets
• Build analytics tools using the data pipeline to provide actionable insights to end users
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issues
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization

• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, data sets and tools (Hadoop, Spark, Presto, etc.)
• Experience using columnar data-stores (Parquet, Athena, Presto, Snowflake)
• Strong knowledge and experience working with AWS eco-system and AWS technologies (S3, Athena, EMR, EKS, EC2, IAM, etc.)
• Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
• Skill for writing reusable code
• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
• Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Ampersand salary range for this position in New York. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, experience and performance

The range listed is just one component of Ampersand’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include discretionary annual bonuses and / or overtime, commission, etc., as well as competitive benefits including PTO, medical & dental & vision benefits, 401K with employer match, short & long-term disability, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, pre-tax commuter benefits & flexible spending accounts.

This role has a base salary of $140,000 – $180,000 and a discretionary annual bonus.
