Overview

Founding Backend Product Engineer book is the AI dispatching software for the $700B home services space (e.g., plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians). We automate dispatching using AI to optimize outcomes that drive revenue and customer satisfaction.

We’re an in-office team working six days a week (Sunday through Friday). Our culture is guided by three core values:

As an engineer, you will work on products with direct and measurable impact on the company’s growth, and your features will drive new ARR and customer expansion.

This role is a proving ground for future founders. You’ll gain hands-on experience across building a hyper-growth company, from customer collaboration to understanding rapid revenue generation. We are world-class at product discovery and have strong PMF; you’ll own an entire product from 0 to 1 with high autonomy within a structured environment.

Probook is seeking a highly driven founding backend product engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll work directly with our CTO, Lewis, to rapidly build and deploy the core AI use cases for our customers, shaping the technical foundation of our product from the ground up. While some frontend experience is a plus, your core strength should lie in robust backend systems.

• Ship new product features at an exceptional pace, with a strong bias for action.
• Demonstrate a passion for tackling hard technical and applied research problems.
• Quickly integrate into and master an existing codebase, becoming productive within the first two days.
• Exhibit a very high level of technical achievement and a track record of delivering impressive work or prior founder experience.
• Possess strong coding fundamentals and champion AI coding tools as a multiplier.
• Have a strong product sense and be deeply invested in delivering customer value.
• Architect well-designed, scalable systems; avoid hacky fixes.

• Collaborate with the CTO to prototype and build the initial set of AI use cases for customers, focusing on backend development.
• Ship impactful features from day one; projects may be weekend sprints rather than long quarterly efforts.
• Stay ahead of the curve by integrating state-of-the-art frameworks and tools for GenAI applications.

• 2-6 years of focused backend product engineering experience.
• Experience at fast-growing startups (ideally AI/ML) or as a founder/founding engineer with AI product development.
• Experience working directly with customers and shipping features quickly to meet user needs.
