PositionSummary
We are hiring a Senior Property Accountant to support day‑to‑day accounting functions for a portfolio of residential real estate assets. This position is fully on‑site at the company’s NYC headquarters and will report directly to the Head of Property Accounting. The ideal candidate has prior experience in property accounting, strong analytical and Excel skills, and proficiency in Yardi.
Key Responsibilities- Perform monthly close process for assigned properties
- Prepare and review internal financial reports and supporting documentation
- Reconcile bank accounts and ensure timely posting of transactions
- Record mortgage payments, escrow activity, and reserve account movements
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for property‑level activity
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Support audit and tax preparation by compiling year‑end documentation
- Assist with compliance filings such as RPIE, tax petitions, and certiorari applications
- Participate in ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of property accounting experience required
- Experience with Class A - Luxury assets
- Strong Yardi experience is required
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with GAAP
- Previous experience with tax credit properties is a plus
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple properties in a fast‑paced environment
