Senior Bookkeeper - Bilingual Japanese

An international property management company seeks a bilingual Japanese bookkeeper (AR/AP) for its office leasing business in New York.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accounts Payable (AP):
• Obtain approval for vendor invoices and issue checks or set up electronic payments.
• Handle employee payroll (including engineers) through ADP, and record related transactions.

• Accounts Receivable (AR):
• Receive security deposits and applications from tenants and deposit them into the control account.
• Process monthly payments from tenant companies, create reports, track delinquencies (if any), and reconcile bank statements.

- Safekeeping of leasing documentation for new leases and terminations.

• Tax Payments and Tax Returns:
• Work with an external accounting firm to manage tax payments and file tax returns.

• Quarterly Audit:
• Collaborate with an external accounting firm during quarterly audits.
• Prepare 1099 and 1096 forms by January.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years of accounting / bookkeeping experience.
• Multi-task capability with HR, tax payment, office management functions, etc.
• Team player with flexibility. Some overtime at the end of quarter and fiscal year.
• Bilingual capability in Japanese and English.
