Accounting Clerk

Location: East Syracuse

Description We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations for a service-based organization in East Syracuse, New York. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with detailed transactions, maintaining accurate records, and keeping accounting workflows organized. The role will contribute to both payables and receivables activities while using accounting systems and data entry tools to ensure timely and reliable processing.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting details, and prepare payments with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.

- Manage customer billing records, apply incoming payments, and help maintain current accounts receivable balances.

- Enter financial information into accounting systems and review entries carefully to reduce errors and support clean records.

- Reconcile account activity by comparing transactions, researching discrepancies, and resolving issues as needed.

- Use Quick Books and other accounting platforms, including Abila MIP and Microix, to maintain transaction data and support daily operations.

- Assist with invoice processing workflows by organizing documentation, tracking status, and following established approval procedures.

- Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to clarify payment questions and obtain missing information.

- Support general accounting and administrative tasks that help the department stay current, efficient, and audit-ready. Requirements - Prior experience in an accounting support role with hands-on exposure to both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and confidence working in computerized accounting environments.

- Strong data entry skills with close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Experience processing invoices and maintaining organized financial documentation.

- Familiarity with Abila MIP and Microix is preferred.

- Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate transaction issues, and follow through on resolutions.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with internal contacts as well as external customers or vendors.
