Bookkepper​/Staff Accountant

The Hudson Company, a specialty wood mill in Pine Plains, NY, seeks a full time Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant. The Hudson company manufactures custom wood flooring, paneling, and beams for clients such as The Whitney Museum, The High Line, Aesop, Patagonia, Whole Foods, and private residences across the country.  The Hudson Company maintains a 30,000 SF manufacturing facility, a finishing facility, third-party warehouse storage, and four showrooms in NY and CT.

The current staff exceeds 30 associates. The Hudson Company’s Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day office duties including bookkeeping, paying bills, payroll, human resource management, and generating other financial reports.

• Verify accuracy of Sales Orders before invoicing
• Open all bills, review for accuracy, and enter into Quick Books
• Sync Bank accounts & credit card statements with Quick Books
• Reconcile all accounts
• Process out-going payments via check, wire, and ACH
• Oversee and manage weekly payroll via Paychex
• Generate monthly commission reports
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Post journal entries
• Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
• Managing Employee Healthcare benefits
• File any Worker’s Compensation Claims
• Manage the 401K Plan and provide staff with the information needed to sign up

• Associate’s Degree or greater
• 2 years experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting
• Experience with Quick Books, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and Paychex
