Payroll Specialist Tarrytown, NY | $70-80k

We are partnering with a well-established client where our team has a strong history of successful placements across finance, accounting, and HR operations. This is a stable, collaborative organization with a payroll function that offers real depth and variety for someone who wants more than just check-processing.

Why This Opportunity
  • Direct reporting relationship with the Payroll Director — great visibility and mentorship
  • Complex, high-volume payroll environment that will sharpen your technical skills fast
  • Exposure to a wide range of payroll functions including reporting, benefits administration, and leave monitoring
  • Collaborative team culture where your contributions make a real operational impact
  • Ideal for a detail-driven payroll professional ready to take ownership of a full pay group
The Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll own the processing of a designated pay group and manage large volumes of data across a semi-monthly payroll cycle. Beyond core processing, you’ll play a key role in payroll reporting, benefits program administration, and leave coordination — making this a well-rounded, high-impact position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and maintain semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Update and assist managers with timesheet entries and navigate multi-tax payroll systems
  • Prepare and distribute detailed payroll reports to internal departments and auditors as needed
  • Maintain and administer employee benefits programs, advising staff on taxable vs. non-taxable components
  • Provide schedules for taxable benefit processing dates and amounts
  • Monitor and assist with leave administration including FMLA, STD, NYSPFL, and ADA reporting
  • Review and manage database files that generate job and pay adjustments
  • Support team members on collaborative projects and perform additional payroll duties as needed
  • What You’ll Need
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
    • Prior experience in a high-volume, multi-tax payroll environment
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines
    • Strong communicator who works well both independently and as part of a team
