Program Associate, Tobacco Control

Our programs are focused on noncommunicable disease prevention, tobacco control, road safety, food policy, overdose prevention, environmental health, and data for health, primarily in low‑ and middle‑income countries.
About the RoleThe recently launched Tobacco Control Accelerator Fund aims to advance global tobacco control progress in several low‑and‑middle‑income countries in Africa. This is a full‑time, New York City‑based position that requires a hybrid schedule (2 days per week in office). Salary: $60,000–$65,000 USD. Candidates must be authorized to work legally in the U.S. at the time of hire.
Job PurposeThe Program Associate, Tobacco Control will support the Director, Tobacco Control, Africa Region by managing the administrative and operational needs of the Tobacco Control Accelerator Fund.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesGeneral Administrative Support
- Prepare presentations and assist with creating and distributing documents, including editing and formatting of project reports and related materials.
Program Support
- Assist the Director with the development of grant rounds, including application and communication materials, review of applications, and support of negotiation coordination.
- Coordinate meetings, manage communications, and provide support for country leads and expert consultants reporting country activities and carrying out program activities.
Operational Support
- Support scheduling, planning, and logistics of meetings and events for the program; attend, take notes, and track key action items and progress.
- Support the program’s contracting and contract amendment process, including drafting contracts and tracking invoices and payments throughout a contract’s lifecycle.
- Provide administrative support for HR‑related activities (recruitment, onboarding) and operational activities (purchasing).
- Support staff, consultants, and grantees in international conferences, including receipt of scientific abstracts/symposia submissions, coordinating invitations, travel logistics and registration, facilitating visa applications, and supporting conference-related communications.

:- Excellent organizational, time‑management skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks.
- Excellent English; proficiency in French preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with remote team members.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently.
- Demonstrated sensitivity in handling confidential information.
- Excellent computer skills; proficient user of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to perform data entry using word processing, spreadsheet, or database functions, and format materials.
- Willingness and ability to work across different time zones.
- A global outlook with interest in current global affairs.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Required Experience
:
Minimum three years of professional work experience. - Preferred Experience
:- At least one year of experience in public health or with an international non‑profit.
- Experience providing administrative support collaboratively and remotely with internal and external team members.
- Recent experience using platforms such as Monday and Microsoft Teams.
Physical Requirements
