Job Description

Brooklyn Community Board #3 represents the neighborhood of Bedford‑Stuyvesant. The Community Board office assists residents with municipal service delivery requests, community concerns and issues.

We are looking to hire a Full‑Time Community Associate. The position requires in‑office work Monday‑Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, five days a week. Occasional night meetings may be required. The associate must attend monthly General Board meetings and other meetings and events as assigned by the District Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Field phone calls and emails from city agencies, elected officials’ offices, and the public.
  • Assist with the preparation for general board and committee meetings.
  • Work on projects that advance district service and quality‑of‑life goals, providing status reports.
  • Provide constituent services, responding to and resolving constituent service requests.
  • Manage website updates, social media accounts, and board newsletter.
  • Perform general office administrative tasks, including filing, scheduling, general correspondence, drafting letters and promotional materials, and posting public notices.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and two years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities related to the duties described above.
  • High‑school graduation with four years of community work experience, or equivalent education/experience as described in the first qualification.
  • Education and/or experience that is equivalent to the first qualification.
