About OATHThe City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is the nation’s largest administrative tribunal, holding approximately 400,000 trials and hearings a year. As the City’s central, independent administrative law court, OATH adjudicates a wide range of matters filed by nearly every city agency, board and commission. OATH also houses the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution which provides mediation and restorative justice support to City government agencies and the general public, and the Administrative Judicial Institute, a resource center that provides training, continuing education, research and support services for administrative law judges and hearing officers.
Job DescriptionThe City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is a fast‑paced tribunal that conducts administrative hearings for a wide range of City agencies, boards and commissions. OATH’s Clerk’s Office seeks to hire one Bounty Unit Clerk to work under the direction of the PPU Manager and the Bounty Unit Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Review, confirm & authorize bounty payments and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Prepare monthly reports and ensure tracking logs are maintained.
- Ensure all functions within the unit are completed within the prescribed time frames and documentation is scanned and filed.
- Research and respond to inquiries and chargebacks in a timely manner and ensure credits for summonses are reversed.
- Assist with training staff and implementing Bounty Processing policies and procedures.
- Make decisions regarding Bounty Processing eligibility.
- Respond to public inquiries and requests via telephone or email.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Excellent writing, interpersonal, communication, customer service and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and within groups. Strong computer skills including experience with Word, Access, Outlook and Excel. History of volunteerism, such as service in the Ameri Corps or Peace Corps is viewed favorably.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.

Salary: $62,868.00 – $72,298.00
