Court Clerk

The New York State Unified Court System,
Appellate Division, Second Department is recruiting for one (1) position in the Appellate Court Clerk Series. The position will be filled in one of the following titles and will be dependent upon the experience and qualifications of the applicant selected:
Senior Appellate Court Clerk or Appellate Court Clerk. The successful applicant will be assigned to the Appellate Term Clerk's Office.

• Assisting self-represented litigants with preparation of and processing of motions and emergency applications.
• Reviewing records on appeal and motion papers for accuracy and completeness.
• Assisting in the various facets of processing motion orders and appeal decision and orders.
• Answering telephone inquiries from court users.
• Data entry of motion and appeal information into the court's case management system.
• Preparation, publication and dissemination of the court's appeal calendars.
• Compiling statistical reports summarizing data related to court proceedings and supervision of Appellate Court Clerks and other employees.

Punctuality and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in dealing with the public and other court users are paramount. Advanced computer skills a must (proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Word and/or Word Perfect among others). The successful candidate must also have the ability to handle sensitive matters in a confidential manner.

Senior Appellate Court Clerk: Two years of service in any title in the Unified Court System; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Base Salary: $76,112 + $4,920 Location Pay

Appellate Court Clerk: Two years of service in any title in the Unified Court System; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Base Salary: $64,971 + $4,920 Location Pay
