About the Team
The Marketplace New Bets team creates and grows new ways for customers to engage with our app that expand why, how, and where people use Door Dash (e.g., Gifting, Double Dash, and Pickup). We are building an entrepreneurial, customer-obsessed, and fast-moving team to create the new products and services that drive the next wave of growth for Door Dash.
About the RoleWe're seeking an entrepreneurial Manager to spearhead the launch and growth of our next big business. You'll operate with a startup founder's mindset, taking full ownership of a new venture from vision and strategy to meticulous execution. You'll design and execute detailed product and operations tests to de-risk our path toward ambitious outcomes. This role requires a natural ability to evaluate work and results through both customer‑centric and quantitative lenses.
This challenge demands a leader who can create and iterate approaches that weave together marketing, product, design, operations, and analytics, while partnering with your cross‑functional peers leading those functions.
You’ll report to the Director of New Bets on the Marketplace Strategy & Operations team, operating in a hybrid model with quarterly travel.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…- Build. You’ll have your fingerprints all over Door Dash’s next big business. You’ll do whatever it takes to launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high‑level strategy to nitty‑gritty operational details.
- Strategize. From first principles, you’ll develop the optimal strategy for best serving our customers.
- Experiment. You’ll transform strategies into operational experiments that create measurable and actionable outcomes, informing your larger initiative implementation plans.
- Analyze. You’ll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate based on data.
- Lead and collaborate. You’ll work with a cross‑functional team, including marketing, design, product, and operations, to build this new line of business for Door Dash.
- You solve problems from first principles. You’re excited to solve problems in innovative ways, and you resist “this is how it’s always been done” thinking.
- You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long‑term and inspiring a team. No job is beneath you.
- You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning are exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environments.
- You love and have experience building: You are comfortable being scrappy and working in a start‑up environment (e.g., doing customer development, creative go‑to‑market, and building MVPs).
- You’re analytical. You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL or modeling in Excel.
- You can lead cross‑functionally. You are able to influence stakeholders, can effectively communicate with executives, and can ruthlessly prioritize based on business needs.
- You lead people. You have 2+ years of experience managing teams.
- You have 6+ years of experience. You’ve succeeded in high‑performance cultures (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).
