The MI Business Transformation, Strategy & Special Projects team is responsible for guiding the overall strategy of the Market Intelligence division of S&P Global, setting long‑term strategic ambitions, leading acquisitions and divestitures, strategic partnerships, portfolio management, growth initiatives and competitive intelligence. The team partners closely with Finance and business stakeholders on long‑term financial planning and evaluates all significant new investments for Market Intelligence, defining the requirements for delivering future growth coupled with large‑scale business transformation initiatives aimed at optimizing portfolio strategy and improving business profitability and productivity.
Responsibilitiesand Impact
- Partner with business leaders across the division to shape and execute MI’s strategy.
- Drive and support a diverse set of business and corporate development‑related activities ranging from acquisitions, venture investing, and partnerships in support of divisional growth priorities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support the end‑to‑end transaction process (initial assessments, due diligence, valuation, and synergy case creation).
- Drive divisional portfolio strategy by evaluating our products across a range of financial and strategic metrics, market fit and industry outlook, and support with various divestiture, turnaround and sunset projects.
- Deliver on select strategy projects, including product profitability analyses, preparation of business cases and validation of white‑space opportunities.
- Champion a data‑driven, hypothesis‑led approach to strategic decision‑making across the enterprise.
- Support the creation of materials for strategic meetings, including Board meetings, Strategic Business Reviews and quarterly earnings preparation.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent); major in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5 – 7 years of experience within investment banking, management consulting, corporate development or corporate strategy.
- Skilled at communicating strategic narratives clearly and simply in PowerPoint. Strong slide design capabilities and exceptional attention to detail required.
- Self‑motivated worker with experience developing organic and inorganic business strategies and financial models with modest manager guidance.
- Expertise in analyzing financial results, including historical detailed revenue and expense due diligence to build out of flexible forward‑looking financial models in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Interested and aware of market trends with the ability to explain how events impact our business.
- Proactive, with an innate sense of urgency and accountability; able to deliver results with short lead‑times.
This role requires that you spend 2‑3 days a week working from an S&P Global office location.
