Production Specialist – Payroll Operations

Location: Melville, Long Island, NY

Salary: $45,000-$55,000 per year

Working arrangement: Full-time, hybrid

About the Company

An established payroll and human capital services provider helping small and growing businesses manage their payroll and workforce administration through modern cloud-based technology and personalised support.

Founded in 2006, the business combines technology with a hands-on, service-led approach, supporting organisations with accurate, reliable payroll operations. Following continued growth, the company is looking to expand its operational team with a dependable Production Specialist.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Production Specialist to join a busy payroll operations team on Long Island.

This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting the production and preparation of payroll materials for business clients. You will help ensure payroll documents and related materials are accurately prepared, organised, quality-checked and ready for distribution within strict deadlines.

This opportunity would suit someone with experience in print production, document processing, mailroom operations, packaging or a similar high-volume administrative production environment. Previous payroll industry experience would be beneficial but is not necessarily essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to‑day operation of the payroll production and packaging room.
  • Print, sort, collate and package payroll checks, employee statements and associated client documents, as required.
  • Organise payroll materials by client and ensure packages are complete and correctly prepared.
  • Perform quality checks to identify missing, incorrect or duplicated documents before distribution.
  • Prepare completed payroll packages for dispatch, delivery or collection in line with established deadlines.
  • Operate production equipment, printers and document‑handling machinery, following training and procedures.
  • Handle confidential payroll and employee information with discretion and care.
  • Maintain an organised, clean and efficient production workspace.
  • Work collaboratively with payroll and operations colleagues to resolve discrepancies and meet client deadlines.
  • Follow established processes to maintain accuracy, security and consistent service quality.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a production, print room, mailroom, packaging, document processing or similar operational role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to repetitive, accuracy‑critical tasks.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with printed documents, computer systems and production equipment.
  • A reliable, proactive approach with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • A team‑oriented attitude and willingness to support colleagues during busy periods.
  • Ability to commute to the company’s Long Island office and work on‑site.

Desirable experience:

  • Previous work within payroll services, financial services or another environment handling confidential documents.
  • Experience preparing high‑volume document batches, checks or client packages.
  • Familiarity with quality‑control procedures, printing equipment or dispatch processes.
What’s on Offer?
  • An opportunity to join an established and growing payroll services business.
  • A hands‑on role within an operational team where accuracy and reliability matter.
  • On‑the‑job training and the opportunity to develop production and payroll operations knowledge.
  • A collaborative working environment with an established client‑service operation.
  • Estimated annual salary of $45,000-$55,000, depending on experience.
