Overview

The Program Facilitator (Group Leader) will work with a group of children ages 5 to 14 years old in after school and summer camp programs to plan and implement activities based on identified curricula in a manner that motivates and engages children and strengthens their academic and social-emotional skills.

Compensation: $17.00 - $25.00/hour

Responsibilities
  • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Be a positive role model for children and youth by displaying the School Age Values.
  • Develop and maintain an effective classroom management system that encourages pro-social behavior and discipline.
  • Plan and implement high-quality, age-appropriate program activities; including academic support, enrichment, physical activity, healthy living, SEL, or leadership development from identified curricula.
  • Directly co-supervise a group of 20 to 25 children aged 5 to 14 years during program hours.
  • Assist Activity Specialist with curriculum implementation within the assigned group.
  • Assist and supervise children during special projects or field trips (including some weekends, holidays, or programming).
  • Collect, organize, assess, and celebrate youth’s work.
  • Interact with and maintain open communication with parents to better understand youth needs and how to manage the child/children.
  • Attend curriculum/program meetings with the Program Director or relevant personnel monthly or as indicated.
  • Participate in internal and external professional development related to the role, including alignment with educational standards.
  • Maintain a supportive, respectful, organized, and resource-rich classroom environment to ensure timely, efficient activities.
  • Escort children to and from all activities, including those outside of the center.
  • Maintain participant files and documentation of required services and activities.
  • Complete and submit weekly schedules, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Take daily attendance and report absences to the Program Director.
  • Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and partners.
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Be punctual, responsible, maintain a positive attitude, and provide encouragement to all students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or two years of successful experience working with students at the appropriate school level preferred.
Key Competencies
  • Knowledge of positive youth development practices.
  • Ability to interface with diverse youth and staff populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Good command of English; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
