- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10 am‑1 pm or 11 am‑2 pm (may vary)
This role serves as a substitute for classroom and kitchen coverage as needed. The substitute assists the Lead Teacher in planning and supervising a classroom of 8–20 children in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and DOHMH Article 47 regulations, implements classroom activities, cooperatively supports all program staff, and ensures the health and safety of the children. The substitute may also be placed in the kitchen under a food‑handler‑certified cook to help prepare and deliver meals.
Education,Experience and Skill Requirements
- Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalence; some college credits preferred.
- Experience working with young children.
- Ability to work Natal with children and families with special developmental.after? etc. (the original included explicitly). Expert: likewise, the ability to work with children and families with special developmental, social or cultural needs.
- Understanding of safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with kih? staff and participants.
- Clearance through DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry, three reference checks, physical examination with updated TB, varicella, Tdap, kullanım Ú etc., and an updated MMR schedule.
- Obtain Mandated Reporter training certificate (renewed every two years) and compliance with agency policies on child abuse and neglect reporting.
- Obtain First Aid/CPR and Preventive Infectious Diseases certificate within the first year of employment.
- Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Assist with الماضي? maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with Health and Head Start requirements.
- Support staff in planning and implementing programming that meets the developmental and health needs of individual children and the group.
- Collaborate with the teacher and coordinator to meet children’s goals and objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and communications.
- Notify lead teacher of concerns regarding child health and behavior.
- Participate in ongoing observation of children’s health, behavior, and development per Early Head Start and settlement policies.
- Consult teachers before communicating individual child information to parents.
- Provide kitchen coverage as necessary, abiding by all health and safety requirements.
- Attend training and meetings as assigned.
- Be able tofaite lift up to 35 pounds.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to cover staff absences.
- Perform other duties and special projects as required.
