Overview
A leading construction and utility services firm is seeking a dedicated Field Safety Technician to support ongoing safety efforts across active job sites in the Syracuse region. Working closely with the company’s Safety Manager, this role is responsible for on-site audits, safety training, incident support, and promoting a culture of proactive risk prevention.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field safety inspections and compliance audits
- Review daily tailboard briefings and Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) with crews
- Lead or assist in delivering safety training sessions
- Maintain documentation of site visits, trainings, and incident reports
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses
- Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions
- Serve as a field-level advocate for the company’s safety values and protocols
- High School diploma or GED required. Some college coursework or safety-specific certification is preferred.
- Safety experience in utilities and construction is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders on safety concerns and issues, and create persuasive arguments using a variety of methods
- Capacity to foster an environment of teamwork which promotes the company’s safety culture, core values, and leadership principles.
- Team player, with the ability to also be proactive and effective when working independently.
- Attention to detail with a strong work ethic.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to visit construction sites, many of which will be in electric sub-stations. Walking on uneven ground (stone/dirt) will be common for the site visits.
- Overnight trips are expected to be necessary but infrequent, depending on workload and location.
