Responsibilities
- Oversee and plan all aspects of purchasing from pre-bid to closeout.
- Obtain Subcontractor and supplier/vendor quotes for projects pre-bid.
- Negotiate and execute subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Represent company in negotiating contracts with vendors, subcontractors and service providers.
- Locate and assist in the evaluation and qualification of vendor materials, equipment, and professional service providers.
- Provide feedback to assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Communicate and enforce purchasing policies & procedures to project team.
- Responsible for projections, delivery schedules and purchasing reporting.
- Maintain and update database of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and submit pre-award DBE/MBE/WBE subcontractor information on municipal bids.
- Attend, host, and participate in DBE/MBE/WBE Outreach Events.
- Assist project management team with mobilization of new projects and close-out of completed projects from pre-construction meetings to final acceptance of contract by owner.
- Manage and oversee the project’s DBE/MBE/WBE Utilization Plan from Bid to Close-out.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent degree ideal.
- Minimum 4 to 5 years’ heavy construction industry experience. Preferred but not required.
- Construction estimating experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel with general knowledge of database utilization.
- Proficiency in HCSS Software including Heavy Bid and Heavy job is a plus.
- Experience with web-based bid solicitation systems preferred.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals, and objectives.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
