About

The Role

Techno is looking for a Construction Inspector to support a large-scale pedestrian accessibility initiative across New York City. This role places you directly in the field, overseeing active construction sites and helping ensure work is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with accessibility and quality standards.

As an Inspector, you will play a critical role in delivering durable, compliant pedestrian infrastructure by observing daily operations, identifying issues early, and maintaining clear, thorough documentation. You will collaborate closely with engineering and project management teams to support successful execution in busy urban environments.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct routine on-site inspections of pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, curbs, and roadway work
  • Confirm construction activities align with approved plans, specifications, and accessibility standards
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, including photographs, measurements, and progress notes
  • Observe contractor work practices, site safety, materials, and sequencing of operations
  • Identify and report nonconforming work, safety concerns, or discrepancies to project leadership
  • Verify field quantities and assist with documentation supporting progress payments
  • Participate in coordination and progress meetings, providing real-time field insight
  • Communicate with contractors, utility representatives, and field personnel to resolve site issues
  • Assist with final inspections, punch-list verification, and project close-out activities
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector on civil, transportation, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance standards related to pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, and streetscapes
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience producing accurate field reports and maintaining inspection records
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a detail-oriented approach
  • Understanding of construction safety requirements and best practices in active work zones
  • Experience working on New York City public infrastructure projects is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with NYCDDC projects, inspection protocols, or standards is a plus
Benefits

We offer not only a competitive salary but also a robust benefits package including enrollment in our 401(k)-retirement savings plan, comprehensive dental, health, and vision insurance coverage, as well as life insurance. Employees are eligible for paid time off and the opportunity to earn bonus incentives.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $50 - $60 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
