Location: New York
The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop pricing strategies, evaluate bid documents, and ensure the timely submission of proposals that reflect the project scope, schedule, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Develop quantity takeoffs and apply unit costs to determine material, labor, and equipment expenses.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Prepare and submit RFIs to clarify project scope and design intent.
- Coordinate pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review scope, schedule, and constructability.
- Prepare final estimate packages including detailed pricing, inclusions/exclusions, and assumptions.
- Participate in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain historical cost data and update estimating databases.
- Support handoff to operations team by providing comprehensive estimate breakdowns and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Experience with lump sum, GMP, and design-build project delivery methods.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Take-off, Procore Estimating, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with bid tabulations and cost models.
- Familiarity with construction means and methods, subcontractor scopes, and pricing trends.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.

Salary: $75k - $130k, based on experience
