JOB SUMMARY /
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Field Operations Supervisor assists the Division Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of utility and civil construction crews. The role coordinates the workforce and field resources, monitors productivity, safety, and quality, and supports the timely execution of projects in compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in supervising utility and civil labor crews engaged in construction, maintenance, repair, and restoration activities.
Coordinate daily crew assignments and schedule personnel, equipment, and materials; monitor productivity and address field constraints to help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Conduct field inspections and monitor activities to verify work quality, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, investigate incidents and operational concerns, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Train, mentor, and evaluate employees, reinforcing company policies, participate in safety meetings, OSHA requirements, and safety standards through instruction, coaching, and performance feedback.
Coordinate the immediate field response to operational issues, customer concerns, emergency situations, and service disruptions as directed.
Coordinate with contractors, municipal agencies, utility customers, and internal departments.
Assist with developing project plans, managing work orders, and tracking budgets throughout field operations.
Ensure equipment and vehicles are maintained in safe operating condition
Follow all company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements while performing assigned duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED required
Associate degree in construction management, civil engineering technology, utility operations, or related field preferred
Three (3) or more years of experience in utility operations, public works, construction, or civil labor activities preferred.
Knowledge of utility infrastructure, excavation practices, construction methods, and equipment operation
Understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety requirements, and industry best practices
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, work orders, and technical documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic work management systems
Valid driver's license required
Ability to pass a drug test and background check and to satisfy medical card evaluation requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Combination of field and office work environments
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction sites, traffic, noise, dust, and uneven terrain
May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and to respond to emergency call-out assignments.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, lift, and perform other physical activities required for field operations.
Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and standard office equipment for extended periods
