  • Real Field and Project Engineer work. You'll work on actual Field Engineer and/or Project Engineer deliverables that move the job forward. It's real-life practice for the career you're preparing for.

What You'll Do

You'll spend most of the summer on your jobsite, doing the work of a Field Engineer and/or Project Engineer.

Before You Start

  • You will be required to complete the required 40-hour OSHA SST training prior to the start of your internship. Monadnock covers the course cost and pays for your course time (40 hours). You will have the option to complete at your own pace online or attend in-person classes when available. All coursework must be completed no later than May 28, 2027.
  • Prior to transitioning to your assigned jobsite, you will attend training sessions at the home office for Procore & Bluebeam training, Project Management basics, Safety, and Preconstruction.

Depending on your assigned project, prior experience and intended career path, you will gain exposure to and experience in the following responsibilities and more:

  • Run project documents, permits and scopes in Procore
  • Own submittals and RFIs, the paperwork that keeps a building moving
  • Review and maintain contract documents and scopes
  • Get exposure to bids and buyouts, from takeoffs to awarding subcontracts
  • Take minutes and drive action items in pre-shift and trade meetings, OAC (owner, architect, contractor) meetings, monthly requisition meetings and MEP coordination meetings
  • Assist with jobsite setup, permits and closeout

Field Operations

  • Walk the site daily with Superintendents, the Safety team and project staff
  • Work with all field staff and subcontractors
  • Track manpower, equipment and deliveries in daily reports, and document progress with photos
  • Join QC inspections and help close out checklists and punch lists, from foundations and structure to exterior wall, mechanicals and finishes
  • Help prepare two-week look-aheads and coordinate the work schedule
  • Observe and assist with new worker orientations

During Your Internship

  • Bi-weekly check-ins: our HR team will check in with you and separately with your project team
  • Final review: a 1:1 performance review with your Supervisor at the end of the internship.
  • Leadership conversation: a meeting with one of our Partners or Project Executives to share your impressions of the internship and talk through your career goals in construction.
