Responsibilities
  • Design and develop men’s polo concept knits through sketches, swatches, new prototypes, and market research.
  • Partner with concept team, design leadership, technical design, merchandising and production to ensure sales samples and stock items are correct and on schedule with confirmed timeline.
  • Conduct seasonal market/competitor and vintage research on trends, new silhouettes, big ideas, logos, washes and new materials.
  • Oversee design of product to execute against seasonal brand merchandising strategies within the customer archetype framework, supported by product briefs and line plans; collaborate with cross‑functional partners in the merchandizing and product‑management teams.
  • Coordinate fitting from prototype stage to bulk approval. Approve CADs and size runs for each style.
  • Support achievement of sustainability goals while ensuring inclusive and culturally aware design.
  • Promote use of 3D for design presentation and handoffs.
  • Ensure sales samples are correct and meet calendar dates. Submit comments for samples and bulk releases on time according to OTB dates.
  • Collaborate with print and graphic team to develop new seasonal ideas.
  • Help associate designer create, maintain line sheets, prepare handoffs and artwork pages, and upload to PLM.
  • Drive design handoffs by targeted dates and calendar milestones.
  • Communicate any product changes during a season to PMT, TD and concept team.
  • Conduct extensive research in the market and vintage items to provide inspiration and creative ideas.
  • Partner with development team and RL Studio on new wash, trims, applique and logo techniques for concept knits.
  • Develop new prototypes from seasonal calendar and present to creative leads at the start of each season.
  • Travel as necessary for design inspiration, shopping for development, and factory visits both domestically and internationally.
Design Expertise

Relevant experience as a fashion designer, focusing on men’s knits with proficiency in creating innovative trend‑setting designs for men’s knitwear.

Technical Skills
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe XD, Flex PLM.
  • 3‑D design (optional). Knowledge of pattern making, grading and garment construction specific to men’s knits.
Trend Awareness
  • Ability to stay up‑to‑date with current and emerging fashion trends, fabrics, and graphics/prints.
  • Experience in conducting market research and analyzing consumer trends into innovative designs.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Exceptional research capabilities and ability to uncover unique inspirational sources.
  • Deep knowledge of vintage clothing construction, fits, and fabrications.
  • Understanding of Ralph Lauren's authentic design approach that prioritizes timeless style over novelty.
  • Ability to work across multiple aesthetic directions while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Passion for the tiny details that create authenticity in design.

Salary range: $85,000 - $161,444 annually.
