Random House Publishing Group seeks an experienced Senior Motion Graphics Designer responsible for bringing visuals and narratives to life across motion-based projects. The role requires a strong eye for design and a passion for animation. In this role, you'll act as the lead motion designer within the marketing design team and will be responsible for leading the development of in‑house motion work within the design team.
You will transform ideas into engaging 2D/3D visuals, motion graphics, and video assets that elevate our storytelling and connect with readers across platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with our marketing, design, and copy teams to produce high‑quality content that supports our campaigns and effectively communicates our brand and titles.
The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio showcasing creative storytelling, technical proficiency, and the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling visual narratives for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities- Create and execute dynamic motion graphics for social media platforms (Instagram, Tik Tok, You Tube, X), and paid campaigns ensuring visual consistency with brand tone and campaign goals.
- Conceptualize and animate type, graphics, and video to support social storytelling.
- Apply foundational audio editing and sound design to enhance motion pieces.
- Manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining a high attention to detail.
- Design and produce creative assets for digital channels, maintaining cohesive visual identity across formats.
- Maintain a strong understanding of design principles: typography, layout, and color.
- Provide leadership and training on motion graphic fundamentals, technical execution, and software best practices to enhance creative projects.
- Balance creativity with meeting tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Minimum of 5 years creating motion graphics with a degree or professional training in this field.
- Minimum of 5 years working within an agency or in‑house creative team.
- Minimum of 5 years working in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience serving as the lead designer on motion graphics projects, overseeing all phases from concept development through final delivery.
- Experience with creating storyboards and presenting creative concepts to clients.
- Experience with 3D modeling (Blender, Cinema 4D, or similar) a plus.
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching and/or leading colleagues.
- Portfolio demonstrating motion graphics, 3D work, and graphic design projects required.
The salary range for this position is $73,500 to $82,000 and will be based on level of experience and proven marketing success in the trade publishing industry. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.

Location & ScheduleThis position has in‑office responsibilities such as attending in‑office meetings, brainstorming and concepting sessions, as needed on a per project basis.
We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance from our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri‑state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
