PositionThe primary role of the Technical Producer is to manage the in‑house audio visual program for the venue business at THE PENN DISTRICT in New York City.
This role will oversee and manage the technical aspects of our live, virtual, and in‑person events and activations. The Technical Producer collaborates closely with the Venue Manager and interfaces directly with our clients to ensure production obligations and project scope are fulfilled. This role is pivotal in coordinating and executing seamless technical production elements, ensuring exceptional event experiences for our clients.
Skills and Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in live events with hands‑on exhibitions and production
- Professional command of written and verbal speech; must always present well and communicate clearly to both clients and leadership
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with CAD and/or Vector Works/similar
- Familiarity with Google platforms including Calendar, Drive, and Mail
- Productive time management
- Detail‑oriented
- Self‑starter, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and team player
- Flexible schedule which includes additional hours for onsite event/filming operations, including weekends, will be required to reflect the calendar of bookings
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of in‑house Video, Audio, LED technology, Rigging, and Power systems
- Conduct regular checks, repairs, and upgrades to ensure all equipment is in optimal condition
- Oversee and actively participate in load‑in, tech, event execution and strike for all engagements across the Penn District Campus
- Collaborate with Venue Manager to identify and solve technical, logistical, and creative challenges proactively
- Operate and troubleshoot all technical equipment at Penn 2 including sound, lights, video and streaming
- Experience with Yamaha audio consoles, Blackmagic ATEM switchers, and Ross video switchers for live event production
- Experience with Crestron control systems for AV
- Knowledge of Appspace or similar digital signage platforms for content distribution and management
- Manage the technical aspects of live streaming – set up and maintain live streaming equipment, addressing any issues that may arise during streaming
- Stay updated on the latest audiovisual and streaming technologies, recommending and implementing upgrades when necessary
- Pre‑production coordination of all onsite events – interfacing with outside clients, incoming vendors and the Vornado Penn Campus technical teams
- Interface between client and Vornado on scheduling and managing all pre‑production timelines and production schedules
- Align clients technical needs with the in‑house AV equipment provided at Penn 2
- Advance the technical needs for incoming clients, including rentals, purchases, creating and reviewing technical drawings
- Hire and coordinate all AV rentals, over‑hire technical crew and external AV teams when needed – equipment rentals, vendors, etc.
- Ensure at all times a safe working environment and compliance with all Health & Safety and licensing regulations, including liaison with relevant authorities
9 AM – 6 PM, Monday – Friday (in office); evenings and weekends as dictated by event/program schedule.

Pay Scale- $90 – 115 k + bonus, dependent on experience and qualifications
- Event pay for on‑site event work outside standard working hours at 1.5×
