Overview
News Nation is looking for a Line Producer to join the team for the new evening news program Katie Pavlich Tonight. The line producer plays a lead role in managing the creation of the show’s rundown and facilitates the production process from the daily pitch meeting to the execution of the live show in the control room collaborating with editorial and production staff throughout the day.
Additionally, the producer will produce news packages, guest segments and interviews as needed. The position is based on-site at the network’s offices in New York.
- Works with the Executive Producer and Senior Producer to create the show’s rundown and manage workflow for a team which includes segment producers, writers, and associate producers.
- Works with director and production crew on technical aspects of broadcast.
- Facilitates creation of in-show graphics and story titles.
- Writes clear, compelling and strong editorial copy in anchor’s voice.
- Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources.
- Selects strongest possible elements to help best tell stories.
- Works with talent on daily taped pieces.
- Prepares or edits questions for guest segments.
- Assists in coordination of special reports from conception to air.
- Keeps Executive Producer and Senior Broadcast Producer apprised of developments of stories.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by news management.
- Five to ten years of experience in national or major-market news.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.
- Strong writing and editorial skills required.
- Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements.
- Must be self‑directing, self‑motivating and able to work will [with] a diverse group of people.
- Interacts well with on‑air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.
- Exhibits strong news judgment.
- Handles stress, including short deadlines.
- Works at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Is able to work assigned shifts and be on call during some holidays.
$90,000 - $105,000
