Sr. Technical Designer – Contemporary Brand
Our client, a contemporary clothing brand, is looking for a Sr. Technical Designer to join their team in NYC!

Base pay range$/yr – $/yr
Responsibilities- Oversee technical design and garment execution across woven, knit, and fully fashioned categories, ensuring high-quality standards and design integrity are maintained throughout pre‑production and production.
- Serve as the liaison for implementing and integrating a new PLM system, ensuring accurate data entry and seamless workflow.
- Manage all aspects of technical sample approvals, from development through production, while maintaining consistency in fit and construction.
- Supervise and provide guidance to freelance and full‑time technical design staff, fostering alignment with team goals.
- Partner with design and production teams to provide expertise on garment construction, proportion, and fit, while upholding seasonal concepts and commercial viability.
- Lead and document production fittings, delivering clear and actionable technical notes to factories and cross‑functional partners.
- Communicate daily with international factory partners to ensure proper execution of design details and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with design on final fittings, alterations, and product shoots to ensure garments reflect intended aesthetic and brand standards.
- Analyze customer and sales feedback in partnership with production leadership to continuously refine fit, construction, and overall product quality.
- Maintain adherence to the Time and Action calendar, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are consistently met.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fit, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance to both internal teams and external vendors.
- Experience managing and mentoring technical design teams or freelancers.
- Proficiency with PLM/PDM systems and the ability to lead system integration projects.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate design intent into factory‑ready instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with design, production, and overseas factories.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and skilled at managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a track record of improving product quality and maintaining design integrity.
