Join the ABC News Product & Strategy team as a Product Manager, Content Production, where you'll play a crucial role in designing, supporting, and delivering news production solutions. You will oversee the strategy, processes, and systems for creating, organizing, and delivering content, including video editing, Media Asset Management (MAM) / Production Asset Management (PAM) systems, and digital archiving. You will conduct end-user research and solve complex problems across various production, operations, and editorial stakeholder groups.
This role is responsible for gathering requirements, collaborating on, designing and evaluating content production solutions, creating workflows, developing and managing user training, and overseeing the rollout of new solutions. The Product Manager, Content Production will play a strategic role in bridging our existing systems with modern newsroom capabilities, ensure continuity, mitigate risk to daily editorial output, and maintain operational efficiency across one of the most complex production environments in the company.
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify and address specific needs of ABC News editing, asset management, content production workflows and related processes.
- Engage with internal engineering teams, as well as with vendors across the industry, to develop solutions, create and design integrations, and optimize workflows.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial concept to deployment and post-launch support.
- Act as the connective tissue that works closely between editorial teams, engineering, media center operations, and post-production to develop and refine media workflow solutions.
- Play a key role in the change management process, ensuring smooth transitions and user adoption of new technologies and workflows.
- Design and implement training programs for staff on new media systems and workflows.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience with product management particularly with media or production related projects.
- Strong experience in television, streaming, or digital news production, with a specific focus on editing, media management, and archive workflows.
- Proven ability to work effectively with operations, production, engineering, and vendors in a media environment.
- Maintain a deep understanding of emerging trends and technologies in the field that are transforming content creation, development, and design.
- Background in software development or UX design in on-prem and cloud-based solutions related to news and content production.
- Familiarity with a wide range of broadcast technologies (e.g. Dalet, AVID, Adobe, Telestream etc).
- Awareness of emerging AI toolsets for production.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
