Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Multimedia Content, the Institutional Photographer produces high-quality photography showcasing Weill Cornell Medicine's excellence in research, student education, and clinical care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Photographs a wide variety of subjects and projects, including portraits, events, institutional stock, and other assignments.
  • Reviews work requests, self-schedules and manages appointments, and consults directly with clients regarding their desired outcomes.
  • Provides light retouching using Adobe Creative Suite and delivers high-quality images in a timely manner after each shoot.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment, ensuring all critical tools are in optimal working condition.
  • Works closely with management to enhance photography services by recommending new services, workflows, and business processes.
  • Uploads and organizes assets in the institutional asset management system.
Education
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience
  • Approximately five years of professional photography experience, supported by a strong portfolio of previous work.
  • Demonstrated experience across photography styles and subjects (e.g. headshots, group and candid photography, events).
  • Knowledge of strobe, continuous and on-camera lighting.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, and related applications).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Full-time, in-person position on WCM campus.
  • Must be able to work outside of standard 9-5 business hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
  • Light travel between locations, primarily in NYC.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport lighting, camera gear, and related equipment as part of regular duties.
