Associate Director, Social Video

People Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Social Video to lead creative strategies that drive video views, engagements, and revenue across Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and other key platforms.

Location & Schedule

Hybrid 3× a week in the New York Office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

About the Position

PEOPLE Digital is hiring an Associate Director, Social Video. This role will lead creative strategies to drive video views, engagement and revenue across Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and more. The person will work closely with the newsroom, video team, events, marketing/sales, PR and the rest of the social organization. Strong news judgment, video editing and production skills, creative thinking, and an understanding of social media strategies and industry trends are essential.

The Associate Director will manage a team of 5+ social video producers and editors working around the clock across coasts. They should be a team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for entertainment, pop culture and using trends to suggest innovative opportunities for PEOPLE. They must feel comfortable coaching reporters on how to capture the best footage at events like red carpets and awards shows, as well as training social producers on best video practices.

The ideal candidate is adept at watching raw footage and identifying what clips to cut and how to optimize for each social platform. Experience creating original, social‑first video concepts and collaborating with celebrities and/or influencers are pluses. They will manage a pipeline of social‑first pitches from reporters, writers and editors across the PEOPLE newsroom, seeing concepts through from ideation to execution.

They should be steeped in internet culture as well as the news cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead creative strategies to increase video views, engagement, and revenue across key social platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with newsroom, video team, events, marketing/sales, PR, and other social org.
  • Manage a team of 5+ social video producers and editors across coasts.
  • Coach reporters and social producers on capturing and shooting best footage at events.
  • Optimize raw footage, identify clips for each platform, and adhere to social‑first concepts.
  • Oversee pipeline of social‑first pitches from reporters, writers and editors.
  • Contribute to brainstorming and developing signature video franchises and concepts.
Education & Experience

BA or BS and/or equivalent experience.

3–5 years working in an editor or producer capacity for digital media or social.

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the PEOPLE brand.
  • Expertise with generating revenue through social and social video.
  • Experience building and presenting social analytics and reporting/insights.
  • An idea generator who can think of new, fresh social and video ideas.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, social media, and video scripting.
  • Experience creating and uploading Tik Tok videos and Instagram Reels.
  • Love for digital video and an eye on trends in the industry.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and in‑person communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with teammates in a creative, collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
  • Highly organized with excellent follow‑through.
  • Staff management experience required.
Pay Range

New York: $87,000 – $104,000.
